Left For Dead, Beck Weathers

Just finished reading “Left for Dead” by Beck Weathers.
If you are looking for a mountaineering book that takes you along on an expedition with the author then do not buy this book.

If you want a book with to many superfluous chapters about childhood, marital disputes and personal anguish with just enough climbing talk and name dropping to fit the genre then this is the book.

Weathers has suffered a great ordeal and its evident that his mountaineering endeavors have made him a better person.

It does explore the ways in which a Mountaineering obsession affects the relationships in a family environment.

The book is based around the 1996 Mt Everest disaster, whilst it doesn’t go in depth about the situation, there is already enough material on the subject.

Worth a read but get it from the library and spend the $30 on a new belay device.
